"Insight" in the Pigeon?

"Insight" in the pigeon?

"Insight" in the pigeon. This subject had been separately reinforced for moving the box to a green spot in the center of the chamber and on other occasions for standing on a box already placed in the center of the chamber and pecking at the plastic banana hanging from the ceiling. The four photographs (A-D) represent a test session when the pigeon was faced with the problem of pecking the banana with the box at the side of the chamber and no green spot to move the box to. In only a short time the pigeons had solved the problem by moving the box to the center of the chamber and mounting it to peck the banana.
